More than 30 years of executive, operations and transaction experience in energy distribution, business services and other industries. Served as Division Manager for Ferrellgas Partners, L.P. (NYSE: FGP), and helped integrate the $400 million leveraged buyout of Buckeye Gas Products Company. Co-founded and served as President of Propane Continental, Inc., a private equity funded energy distribution company that completed 36 acquisitions over five years. Ultimately led the sale of the company to a publicly traded competitor. Mr. Knauff was a co-founder of Liberty Propane, L.P. and Liberty Propane, G.P.
Approximately 20 years of commercial banking and investment banking experience, including 14 years of domestic and international transaction structuring and mergers & acquisitions advisory assignments. Successfully structured and completed over $9 billion in capital raising efforts. Industry experience includes natural gas and coal-fired generating facilities, renewable energy (wind, solar, hydro, waste-to-energy and bio fuels), liquefied natural gas, pipelines, mining and natural gas storage. Significant experience in commercial structures, cash flow/technical analysis, senior and subordinated debt structuring, mezzanine and equity funding and asset valuation. Recent transactions include sale of wind power developments in Poland totaling 775 MW. Accomplishments include several “first of a kind” and “deal of the year” financings, including the 2010 M&A Atlas Awards for Green Energy Deal of the Year, the 2010 International Financing Deal of the Year for the Energy Sector (including alternative energy) and the 2010 Middle-Market M&A Financing Deal of the Year from The M&A Advisor, as well as the 2008 Americas Power Deal of the Year designation from Project Finance International. Graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (B.S. - International Finance and Economics, magna cum laude) and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University (Executive M.B.A.).

Most recently involved in middle-market mergers & acquisitions and capital raising advisory with 18 successful transactions generating approximately $500 million in client liquidity. Significant knowledge in direct debt financing with approximately $300 million in commitments, as well as experience with distressed and nonperforming debt. Has advised companies in numerous industries with a specific focus in industrial manufacturing, distribution and servicing including pipe, pipeline maintenance, recycling and machinery/equipment rebuild and refurbishment. Leads the firm’s specialized practice in the flow control industry which includes the pumps, valves and filters markets. Significant experience in conducting transaction and industry-specific research in a variety of industries including, among others, the building products and metals industries. Extensive background in developing and creating a variety of marketing materials and distributing them to a targeted audience.
