Mr. Thomas L. Bookey Joins Jordan Knauff & Company as Managing Director
Jordan Knauff & Company (JKC), a middle-market investment bank based in Chicago, Illinois, is pleased to announce that Mr. Thomas L. Bookey has joined the firm as Managing Director. Mr. Bookey has extensive experience in creating, acquiring, selling, and raising capital for middle-market companies in the broadcast communications, commercial real estate, and multifamily residential real estate industries.
Prior to joining JKC, Mr. Bookey was a Managing Principal at Compass Ventures, LLC where he spent ten years raising equity capital for single tenant commercial properties and multifamily residential properties. From 2006 to 2013, Compass Ventures, LLC raised equity capital for Des Moines, Iowa-based BH Companies (BH). BH is the fourth largest private multifamily property owner and manager in the United States. The company owns and manages more than 222 communities in 22 states with a total of approximately 65,000 rental apartment units.
In 2002, Mr. Bookey formed Heartland Communications with Granite Equity Partners, a private equity group based in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Heartland Communications acquired small and middle-market radio stations in north central and northwestern Wisconsin. In 1995, with Cross Creek Private Equity as an equity partner, he created Central States Broadcasting which purchased and sold approximately twenty properties.
Mr. Bookey began his career with H. Hentz & Company and then moved to Drexel, Burnham, Lambert & Company where he became a Senior Vice President. During his tenure with Drexel, Burnham, Lambert & Company, he founded Lake Shore Communications and S.E. Wisconsin Broadcasting to acquire radio stations in Racine and Appleton, Wisconsin.
Mr. Bookey is a graduate of Simpson College (B.A.) in Indianola, Iowa. He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and the City Club of Chicago.
